Empowering the Next Generation of Women in Cybersecurity
Nedscaper is proud to announce our collaboration with Inspiring African Women (IAW) for a special Youth Month celebration focused on women in ICT and cybersecurity. The workshop, themed “Bold. Wired. Ready. Young Women Shaping South Africa’s Digital Future,” will take place on 4 July 2025 at Workshop17, Sandton.
This exclusive, invite-only program will bring together a select group of 12 female students from the University of the Witwatersrand and University of Johannesburg SWEEP Chapters for intensive, hands-on cybersecurity training and professional development.
What to Expect
The intimate setting allows for personalized mentorship and focused skill development, ensuring each participant receives maximum value from the cybersecurity training sessions:
- Live Phishing Workshop & Hack Simulation – Participants will analyze real-world phishing emails and experience a simulated cyberattack, followed by insights into how Security Operations Centers (SOC) detect and respond to threats
- Keynote Address: “Your Roadmap into Cybersecurity” – Expert guidance on breaking into the cybersecurity field, including education paths, certifications, and career opportunities
- Panel Discussion: “Women in Cyber: Real Stories, Real Impact” – Candid conversations with women cybersecurity professionals sharing their career journeys, challenges, and advice

Building Tomorrow’s Cyber Leaders
“This collaboration reflects our core purpose of providing trust in digital life through guidance and continuous protection,” said Lucky Masipa, Cloud Security Analyst at Nedscaper. “By nurturing young talent, particularly women in cybersecurity, we’re not only addressing South Africa’s critical skills gap but also making a positive impact while strengthening our talent pipeline – embodying our commitment to securing the future together.”
Ellen Fischat, Co-founder and CEO of Inspiring African Women, emphasized the transformative potential of the collaboration: “This workshop represents exactly what we envision when we talk about empowering young African women in tech. By collaborating with industry leaders like Nedscaper, we’re not just providing skills training – we’re opening doors to careers that will shape Africa’s digital economy. These 12 young women will leave equipped not only with cybersecurity knowledge but with the confidence to lead in a field where their voices are desperately needed.”
The workshop will be facilitated by Nedscaper’s cybersecurity experts, including Nhlaloenhle Moyo, Associate Manager MXDR, who brings a philosophy of continuous learning to the training: “A good specialist is a master of Processes and SOPs, a great specialist is a master of research and investigation. Always Research, Never Complacent, Always Learn.”
The event represents a collaborative effort between Nedscaper, Inspiring African Women, Workshop17, and the EDHE/SWEEP university chapters, demonstrating how we can be “Stronger Together” in youth development and digital inclusion. This approach aligns with our belief that practical, accessible cybersecurity education is essential for building trust in our digital world.
This Youth Month initiative demonstrates Nedscaper’s commitment to making a positive impact through talent development while providing practical, accessible cybersecurity education. As your trusted partner in cybersecurity, we believe that empowering the next generation of security professionals is essential to securing South Africa’s digital transformation goals.
