MXDR Architect

The role 

Are you a seasoned security professional who thrives on customer advisory, cloud security architecture, and developing talent? As our MXDR Architect, you will be responsible for assessing and improving the customer security posture across cloud and hybrid environments, with a strong focus on Nedscaper’s MXDR services. 

In this role, you center your efforts on security consulting, customer onboarding, and Security Posture Management (SPM), ensuring alignment to best practices and service standards. All in relation to the Nedscaper MXDR service. You work closely with our Engineering and Consultancy teams to align customer requirements with detection capabilities, while maintaining a clear advisory and non-engineering focus. Additionally, you support onboarding quality, identify control gaps, and enable Tier 2 analysts to develop into junior consultants through coaching and guided delivery. 

 

What you will do 

● Security consulting & assessments Conduct structured security assessments of customer cloud and hybrid environments (both pre- and post-onboarding). Act as a trusted security advisor, providing risk-based guidance and prioritized remediation recommendations. 

● Customer onboarding Lead customer onboarding activities from a security architecture and MXDR alignment perspective, ensuring control readiness and MXDR service integration. 

● Security posture management (SPM) Support and drive SPM activities across allocated MXDR customers in South Africa and the Netherlands. Validate service prerequisites, track security improvements, maintain visibility of control gaps, monitor identity and access management controls, and ensure structured follow-up. 

● Engineering alignment & innovation Work closely with the engineering team to provide architectural and operational feedback based on onboarding insights, customer knowledge and requests. Maintain foundational knowledge of emerging AI-driven security capabilities and identify opportunities where AI can enhance detection and analysis. 

● Team enablement Support the development of Tier 2 analysts towards junior consultancy capabilities. Perform side-by-side delivery during customer engagements and provide structured coaching on assessment methodologies, customer communication, and documentation standards. 

 

What we offer 

● A salary up to ZAR 95,000 depending on your experience and seniority. 

● A direct indefinite contract (upon successful completion of a 3-month probation period). 

● 17 paid vacation days per annum. 

● A monthly contribution of ZAR 1,500 toward your Medical Aid (Discovery Health) and a 2.5% pension contribution via Momentum.

What you bring 

● A Bachelor’s degree in ICT or a related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience in security architecture, security consulting, or senior SOC roles. 

● Hands-on assessment experience of cloud and hybrid environments with strong Microsoft security ecosystem exposure. Strong Azure cloud proficiency is essential, additional experience with AWS and GCP is highly advantageous. 

● A strong consulting mindset with analytical problem-solving skills to identify control gaps and drive practical remediation. Excellent client-facing reporting and advisory skills (both written and verbal) across technical and executive audiences. 

● Structured, detail-oriented working style with a strong documentation and reporting discipline, combined with a passion for coaching and mentoring others. 

● Fluency in spoken and written English is required, being multilingual is a distinct advantage. 

To qualify for this role, the following Microsoft certifications are mandatory: 

● SC-100: Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert 

● AZ-500: Azure Security Engineer 

● SC-200: Security Operations Analyst 

● SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator 

● Having AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) is considered advantageous.
